Halo Infinite is the first mainline game in the series to launch across three systems, coming after Microsoft’s push for a more connected gaming ecosystem. But with the game coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, will Halo Infinite support cross-play, and will it support cross-progression if you want to jump between different platforms?

Will Halo Infinite have cross-play?

Absolutely, yes. Halo Infinite will have cross-play across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You’ll be able to play multiplayer with your friends regardless of the system they own, and because the competitive multiplayer component is free, that means you can easily jump between platforms if you want to try out PC and console. And since it’s available as part of Xbox Game Pass on both Xbox and PC, you don’t need to buy the campaign, either.

However, at launch, there will not be cooperative campaign support, with this feature planned for 2022. So if you were planning on enjoying that part of the game with a friend, you’ll have to wait–even if you are both on the same platform.

Will Halo Infinite have cross-progression?

Yes it will! You will be able to jump back and forth between the console, PC, and cloud versions of Halo Infinite as much as you want, and your progress will be shared between them. Want to switch from Xbox One to PC or Series X halfway through the campaign? You won’t lose any progress when you do.

Halo Infinite releases on December 8 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the final release date coming more than a year after its original date. The game has experienced some major visual overhauls in that time, with original writer Joseph Staten joining as the campaign lead in the final year.
