Hitman developer IO Interactive is making a new James Bond game, and while many of the key details remain a mystery, we’ve now learned a little more about it.

IO has announced it has hired Rodrigo Santoro, a Ubisoft veteran who rose through the ranks to become overall World Director at The Division and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora studio Massive. At IO, Santoro will be the Missions Director on the new James Bond game, which is in the works under the working title Project 007.

IO’s associate production director, Frederik Villumsen, said Rodrigo “stood out from the crowd” during the interview process. “As soon as we showed Project 007 to Rodrigo, he showed his excitement for the game and was already sharing ideas, thoughts, and asking many questions!” Villumsen said. “His critical thinking and enthusiasm are qualities we welcome, and we look forward to seeing him make an impact as Missions Director, where he will direct the balancing of story, art and gameplay to design the most amazing Bond missions.”

Santoro, meanwhile, said he admires how IO “dares to innovate and create new memorable game experiences,” especially at a time when “most companies are focused on making sequels.”

“Project 007 got my attention since the day it was announced, and I feel incredibly fortunate to work with the team making the game. I was able to see more of the game and there is already something unique about it,” Santoro said. “Most importantly, every conversation that I have had so far with team members has shown the team is passionate about delivering a memorable and unique experience. Right now, I am looking forward to start working with the team, and together, delivering the best 007 game ever made.”

During his game career, Santoro worked at Crytek on Crysis 2, Crysis 3, and Ryse: Son of Rome, before moving to Ubisoft where he worked on The Division, The Division 2, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. As mentioned, his last title at Ubisoft was overall World Director for the studio.

What we do know about IO’s new Hitman game is that it tells an origin story for the British superspy. There is no word yet on platforms or a release date.

As for the James Bond movie series, Aaron Taylor-Johnson will reportedly be the next James Bond actor, and his casting could be confirmed soon.
