Destiny 2 guide: Solstice of Heroes 2019 armor upgrades and activities

Destiny 2’s second annual Solstice of Heroes event is here, and it’s brought with it a whole new grind. Like last year, players will earn a weak armor set to start off the event, and get the task of upgrading it into something amazing.

But what sets this Solstice of Heroes apart are the tangible rewards coming in Destiny’s next major upgrade, Shadowkeep. Bungie revealed that the Majestic Solstice of Heroes sets are the first Armor 2.0 armor pieces players can get grab when Shadowkeep drops on Sept. 17.

To have your set ready, you need to upgrade at least one class to Majestic, and all three if you want an Armor 2.0 set on each of your characters.

Here are the activities in Solstice of Heroes 2019, and the requirements to upgrade each set of armor.

SOLSTICE OF HEROES 2019 ACTIVITIES

EUROPEAN AERIAL ZONE

The European Aerial Zone is a new activity in Destiny 2’s 2019 Solstice of Heroes. It takes place in a new area around the EDZ, but you access it in the Tower.

To succeed in the European Aerial Zone, you need to kill as many minibosses as you can in the time limit the game gives you. When time is up, you’ll face off against the final boss. Kill it, and you’ll return to the European Aerial Zone to hunt for treasure. The more minibosses you killed, the more chests you have to hunt.

To open these chests, you’ll need Solstice Key Fragments. To earn the Key Fragments, you need to complete activities during the Solstice of Heroes event.

ELEMENTAL ORBS

Solstice of Heroes has a daily rotating elemental burn, which enhances the powers of Arc, Solar, or Void for the day.

Killing enemies with elemental energy drops a Elemental Orb, which aren’t tied to the burn of the day. But if you collect 30 Elemental Orbs that do match the daily burn, you will activate a powerful buff depending on the element.

Here’s what they do in Bungie’s own words:

• Equip your Arc subclass and weapons to generate Arc orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Arc elemental power. While empowered, Guardians move with enhanced speed and deal greater melee and Sword damage.
• Equip your Solar subclass and weapons to generate Solar orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Solar elemental power. While empowered, Guardians emit a burning wave of energy that damages anything around them.
• Equip your Void subclass and weapons to generate Void orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Void elemental power. Crouch while empowered to become invisible and gain Truesight plus enhanced ability regeneration.

UPGRADE YOUR DRAINED ARMOR

Grab the Drained Solstice sets from Eva. Complete these objectives to upgrade your armor to Renewed.

HUNTER

• Helmet: Complete runs through the European Aerial Zone, get precision kills, defeat Fallen
• Gauntlets: Complete playlist strikes, collect Solar orbs in Gambit or Crucible, unlock Solstice packages
• Chest: Loot European Aerial Zone chests, collect any Elemental Orbs, defeat enemies in the European Aerial Zone while using a Solar subclass
• Boots: Complete public events on Nessus, complete Solstice of Heroes bounties, defeat enemy Guardians in Crucible or Gambit
• Cloak: Complete Adventures, collect Arc orbs from Strikes, complete Crucible or Gambit matches

Titan

• Helmet: Complete runs through the European Aerial Zone, get precision kills, defeat Hive
• Gauntlets: Loot European Aerial Zone chests, complete Solstice of Heroes bounties, defeat enemies in the European Aerial Zone while using a Arc subclass
• Chest: Complete Adventures, collect Solar orbs from Strikes, complete Crucible or Gambit matches
• Boots: Complete public events on Nessus, collect Void orbs in Crucible or Gambit, unlock Solstice packages
• Mark: Complete playlist Strikes, collect any Elemental Orbs, complete Crucible and Gambit matches

Warlock

UPGRADE YOUR RENEWED ARMOR

After upgrading your set to Renewed, complete these objectives to upgrade to Majestic.

HUNTER

• Helmet: Complete bounties, open chests in the European Aerial Zone, defeat enemies with Arc weapons
• Gauntlets: Complete Heroic Public Events, collect Arc orbs in Strikes, defeat Cabal using a subclass that matches the daily elemental bonus
• Chest: Complete Gambit matches, collect Elemental Orbs using a subclass that matches the daily elemental bonus, defeat enemies with Void grenades
• Boots: Complete Challenges, defeat enemies in Strikes using a subclass that matches the daily elemental bonus as a team, kill enemy Guardians in Gambit and Crucible with Void weapons
• Cloak: Complete Patrols in the EDZ, collect any Elemental Orbs in the European Aerial Zone, defeat minibosses in the European Aerial Zone

TITAN

• Helmet: Complete Gambit matches, collect Elemental Orbs in any matchmade activities using matching subclasses as a team, defeat enemy Guardians in Crucible or Gambit with Arc weapons
• Gauntlets: Complete Heroic Public Events, complete Challenges, defeat minibosses in the European Aerial Zone
• Chest: Defeat enemies in Strike playlists using the daily elemental bonus subclass, open chests in the European Aerial Zone, defeat Fallen using the daily elemental bonus subclass
• Boots: Complete bounties, collect Void orbs in Strikes, defeat enemies with Solar melee kills
• Mark: Complete Patrols on Io, collect any Elemental Orbs in the European Aerial Zone, kill enemies with Solar weapons

WARLOCK

• Helmet: Defeat enemies in Strike playlists using a subclass that matches the daily elemental bonus, collect any Elemental Orbs in the European Aerial Zone, defeat minibosses in the European Aerial Zone
• Gauntlets: Complete bounties, collect Elemental Orbs using matching subclasses with your team, defeat enemy Guardians in Gambit or Crucible

• Chest: Complete the Shattered Throne dungeon with two or fewer players
• Boots: Reset your Season 7 Valor
• Cloak: Defeat challenging enemies

TITAN

• Helmet: Complete a Prestige Nightfall with a score of over 200,000
• Gauntlets: Complete playlist Strikes with clanmates
• Chest: Complete the Shattered Throne dungeon with two or fewer players
• Boots: Reset your Season 7 Valor
