Nintendo has revealed that two of its biggest franchises have hit major sales milestones with the end of the company’s third quarter for fiscal year 2024 (October 1-December 31, 2023). The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom now sits at 20.28 million copies sold, while Super Mario Bros. Wonder has moved past 10 million with 11.96 million copies sold.
With the best start ever for the series, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sold 10 million copies in just three days back in May 2023. Meanwhile, Super Mario Bros. Wonder was the fastest-selling Super Mario game when it launched in October and sold 4.3 million copies in the game’s first two weeks of availability.
As part of Nintendo’s consolidated financial highlights, the company also revealed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 6.79 million copies for fiscal year 2024 (April 1-December 31, 2023) alone. That puts the game at 60.58 million copies sold lifetime, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the best-selling Switch title of all time.
Another notable Switch exclusive to point out is Pikmin 4, which sold 3.33 million units. Previously, Pikmin series creator Shigeru Miyamoto had theorized why the franchise wasn’t a massive sales hit.
Looking ahead, Switch has a chance to dethrone PS2 as the best-selling console of all time in 2025.
