In an update this week, Forspoken developer Luminous Productions has revealed plans to provide further updates for the game, including general tweaks and performance improvements.

“We’ve been listening to all your feedback and are hard at work on an upcoming patch that will include improvements to overall performance, graphics, playability, and general updates and fixes to the game content across PS5 and various PC hardware configurations,” Forspoken director Takeshi Aramaki wrote. “We are committed to making Forspoken the most enjoyable experience possible and will provide an update about the timing of the next patch as soon as possible.”

Forspoken generally runs smoothly on either PC or PS5 in its performance and quality modes, with impressive animation, particle effects, and incredibly fast-loading times on the right hardware. As Digital Foundry noted in a technical breakdown of the PS5 version, Forspoken does suffer from poor lighting, asset integration, and performance dips in certain areas of the game’s world, Athia.

While Forspoken’s star Ella Balinska is proud of her work on the game, reviews for the game have so far been mixed. “It tells a largely forgettable story that sets up major stakes but fails to offer a compelling reason for why the player should care,” Jordan Ramée wrote in GameSpot’s Forspoken review. “Luminous Productions’ action-RPG feels great when it allows you to really stretch your legs and magically parkour across its fantasy landscape, but combat is clunky and regular exposition too often stalls the action.”
