Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Patch Promises Performance Improvements, More To Come

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor released last week to positive reviews, but PC players are understandably upset about its performance woes on that platform. EA has issued a new patch that it says should improve the way the game runs on PC, but it’s not clear how much of a difference it makes at this early juncture.

As shown in the above tweet, the PC patch has only one bullet point, which reads “performance improvements for non-raytraced rendering.” The long list of bullet points below the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are already live on the PC version, and will come to console on Tuesday, May 2. EA further says that it will continue to improve the game’s PC performance with future patches.

Jedi: Survivor’s PC performance is the only snag in what was an overall positive launch for the new Star Wars game, which sold quite a few copies in the UK. Early reports from PC outlets said that the game struggled to meet even 40fps on top-of-the-line hardware, and YouTuber SkillUp did not recommend the game because of that.

In GameSpot’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor review, critic Jordan Ramée praised the game’s moving story and pinpoint combat:

“Survivor builds on Fallen Order in several meaningful ways, tightening up the combat mechanics, expanding the variety of lightsaber styles, alleviating the frustration of platforming and puzzles, and digging into less-mainstream Star Wars lore to tell a fantastic story about a Jedi trying to defeat a tyrannical evil at all costs and coming to the realization that you can’t just fight for good–you have to fight for good in the right way. It’s a superb Star Wars game that gets into the nitty-gritty of the struggle of what it takes for a Jedi Knight to begin the journey toward the rank of Master.”
