The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom High Spring and the Light Rings is a Shrine Quest that can be done in the region of Lanayru. You’ll meet someone who gives you a clue, and you have to take to the skies. Here’s our guide to help you complete High Spring and the Light Rings and the Zakusu Shrine in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
To get the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom High Spring and the Light Rings quest, you’ll want to make your way to the snowy path heading to the Mount Lanaryu Skyview Tower. The trek is perilous, so make sure you’ve got several Spicy Pepper-based meals, too.
Near the summit, you’ll meet an NPC by the name of Nazbi. He tells you about a riddle regarding a spring and some light rings.
The riddle reads as thus:
Skim across snow, from spring high in the heavens to the mountain below. Pass through the rings of light to see the Light of Blessing.
The spring refers to where you are now, the Spring of Wisdom. However, to reach the high heavens, you’ll want to tag and launch yourself off the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. While in mid-air, look slightly to the southeast and you should see a key-shaped floating island. Upon landing, you’ll be able to start a time trial. An autosave will trigger, so just reload it in case of failures (you don’t really want to go back up each time).
For the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom High Spring and the Light Rings trial, you’ll need to pass through the green rings from the starting point, all the way down to the mountain pass below. Since you need to be quick here, we suggest doing the Shield Surf: while in mid-air, hold the ZL button, then press A.
You should be able to snowboard your way to the end. Once you get there, a crystal will form the Zakusu Shrine, which has its own challenge: Proving Grounds – Ascension. Link will have no armor, but you can pick up various weapons. The goal here is to head to the back of the ground level, then use the Hot Air Balloon to reach the top.
From there, you can find various tools, such as Spiked Balls and Flame Emitters. We advise using Ultrahand to pick up the Flame Emitter so you can torch the Construct enemies. The unceasing jet of fire will prevent them from attacking you. Once you’ve defeated the foes up top, just clean up the rest below.
That’s it, you’ve completed both the High Spring and Light Rings quest, as well as the Zakusu Shrine encounter, in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Pat yourself on the back while you’re at it. Also, don’t forget to take a look at our Shrine locations main guide.
