A remake of EA’s Dead Space is only a few weeks away, and if you’re planning to play on PC via Steam, you’ll be able to double up on the terror thanks to a preorder special that is currently available. Simply preorder Dead Space Remake before January 26 at 11:59 PM PT / January 27 02:59 AM ET, and you’ll get a digital copy of Dead Space 2 for free.
Released back in 2011 and developed by Visceral Games, Dead Space 2 expanded on the original sci-fi horror’s ideas with more finely tuned gameplay, more atmospheric dread, and even more gruesome monsters to encounter. If you fall in love with the original game, then hopping into its first sequel is an essential chapter in protagonist Isaac Clarke’s battle against the Necromorphs and the cosmic entities that threaten humanity with extinction. Plus, there’s also that infamous scene that involves a really sharp mechanized needle and Clarke’s eyeball that’s not for the squeamish.
“As long as you’ve got the stomach for it, Dead Space 2 is one sci-fi horror thrill ride you definitely want to take,” Carolyn Petit said in GameSpot’s Dead Space 2 review. “Unless you’re just plain chicken, this is a sci-fi horror adventure you definitely want to suit up for.”
If you’ve already preordered Dead Space, you’ll automatically receive the sequel as well. Development on Dead Space Remake hit a new milestone back in December, with EA Motive announcing that the game had gone gold.
An ambitious project that promises no loading screens thanks to the Frostbite engine powering the terror lurking aboard the USG Ishimura, Dead Space Remake will launch on January 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is giving last-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles a skip, and for more details, you can check out GameSpot’s Dead Space Remake preview.
