In NBA 2K25, The City makes its return, and the game reintroduces MyCourt to allow players to practice alone or invite friends. It also introduces Proving Ground for ranked play, continues the Rise and Elite rivalry, brings back all four MyParks from NBA 2K15, and all-new features make their debut for beginners.

The City will be all-new and the map will be more condensed than before. This time around, gone are the empty spaces, with each building serving a purpose. The Boulevard of the Stars–a high-end street located centrally in The City–will grant simple access to all of the game’s modes such as Pro-AM, The Rec, and Ante-Up.

The City also has a Walk of Fame that showcases every NBA championship team but also has blank spots so players can make their mark in MyCareer to be immortalized among the greats. MyCourt–the basketball court and apartment combination–is reintroduced for players to practice and improve their skills for MyCareer. Players can polish their skills alone or invite friends to play game types such as 1v1, 3v3, and HORSE. Customization options allow players to decorate their walls with murals that can be unlocked through quests and seasonal rewards.

Proving Grounds is the new coliseum-inspired arena for ranked play. The Proving Ground has the option of 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5 games where players can enable difficulty sliders or turn off Shot Meters for all. The top five players each season can earn exclusive rewards, and others who compete can receive Rep in The City.

NBA 2K25 adds new perks for The Rise and Elite affiliations. Players who choose Elite will set up their shop in an old pirate-themed fort, which features a pirate ship, and players choosing Rise will experience a futuristic robot factory with mechs abound. Courts within each affiliation are now closer together, so players can jump around with ease.

MyPARKS from NBA 2K15 resurges a decade later with all four MyParks. Sunset Beach, Rivet City, and Old Town–alongside its upgraded version on the aircraft carrier–will all be remastered with improved technical fidelity and better lighting.

Streetball is back with more wild rewards, three new locations, and cooperative play. Players can gather two friends for 3v3 games against new bosses and complete Streetball Quests together.

NBA 2K25 unveils new features to help beginners, such as HoloHelp Info kiosks– found outside of each The City building–to explain the workings of each mode and target skill level. Elite and Rise Parks will have novice-friendly Casual Courts, so players can learn how to play alongside other newcomers.

NBA 2K25 releases worldwide on September 6, but people who purchase the game before September 6 will be able to play on September 4 at 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET. Players who have already preordered 2K25 will be automatically eligible for early play, as well.
